Friend to Econ and alumnus Jimmy Pinkstaff (Econ '99) passes

It is with great sadness that we heard of the passing of James "Jimmy" Pinkstaff, 41, of Urbana who died on Saturday September 8, 2018 in Urbana.  Jimmy, as his friends called him, was a 1999 graduate of the Economics undergraduate program at the UI.  He also received a bachelors in finance in 1999 and a JD from the College of Law at UI in 2002.

Jimmy was an alumni friend to the Economics Department by lending his career path experiences and advice to undergraduate students, whether by sitting on an alumni panel for an Economics 198 class or interacting with students on a one-on-one basis interested in pursuing law after economics.    Former well known professors, Fred Gottheil and Werner Baer, considered him a friend and he enjoyed debating economic issues with them.  He remained a close friend to Fred's wife after Fred passed in 2017.   He will be deeply missed by many.
