Dr. Nourse came to the University of Illinois in 1964, and became a full professor in 1968. In 1978, he moved again to the University of Georgia at Athens, where he became a standout professor in their MBA program. He retired from teaching in 1995.

Since his retirement, Dr. Nourse and his wife Carol have devoted themselves to researching and photographing wildflowers in the state of Georgia. Together, they have written four books on the subject, and their photos have circulated widely among many different publications.
