The MSPE Program sets its tuition and fees in accordance with the general campus charges. This is unlike other cost recovery master’s programs at the University of Illinois and elsewhere, which generally have a much higher tuition and fees than those of the campus. Specifically, the tuition figure is what the campus sets for all its non-resident graduate students. The figures for fall and spring semesters are on a full load basis and do not vary with the number of classes taken. The tuition for the summer session does vary with the course load.
The only extra cost of the MSPE Program is its “enrichment fee”, which is on top of the general campus fees. This fee is currently set at $1,350 per fall and spring semesters (for a total of $2,700). No enrichment fee is assessed during the summer term. This fee is used to defray a portion of the costs associated with the program’s numerous enrichment activities. It does not vary with how many activities the students participate in.
The University of Illinois Board of Trustees has designated the MSPE Program as a cost recovery program. Because of this no financial aid from the University of Illinois is available for the MSPE students. However, there is a limited merit-based tuition scholarship fund available for U.S. citizens who meet the University's Illinois residency requirement. Contact the MSPE office for more information.
